Holy Family Academy is a private, independent Traditional Catholic academy, an Arizona nonprofit corporation in the process of applying for 501(c)(3) status. Its goal is providing students in grades K-12 with a truly outstanding education in the classical liberal arts in an environment that is conducive to the formation of the whole person. The school strives ultimately to form good Catholic citizens – men and women willing and able to work for the restoration of all things in Christ, freely submitting to Our Lord in the spiritual, moral, intellectual and physical realms.

Loyal to the Magisterium of the Church, our purpose is to cultivate wisdom and virtue by nourishing the souls of our students on all that is true, beautiful, and good, so that, in Christ, the student is better able to attain the noble end for which he was created – to know, love, and glorify God.

Supporting families as the primary educators of the student, we continue the development of spiritually centered lifelong learners, who are academically prepared, effective communicators, and citizens of a global world. As educators and ministers, we promote a vision of life that gives witness to faith beyond the school setting.

HFA will provide high quality education for grades K through 12 for children of working families in the South Phoenix area of Metropolitan Phoenix.

The primary focus of HFA is to provide flexible, comprehensive education to all races who are practicing Catholic families. HFA will have a classical curriculum and use a unique blended learning approach. This will include direct classroom instruction (K – 6th), blended direct instruction, online instruction and self-directed learning. The online learning will include teacher monitored discussion and ancillaries such as video, audio and games (7th – 12th).

The Classical educators’ emphasis will be on language, mathematics and governance and assessment to support the goals of classical education. This will include the use of classic books and art, a general preference for great art, music and literature and idea-focused teaching.

At the high school level, the focus will be to impart knowledge objectively (various academic disciplines) and subjectively as moral or intellectual virtues, all set within the framework of Aristotle’s and Aquinas’ definition of science. Tutoring will also be available approximately 1 hour a week involving one-on-one interaction with a teacher to work through homework problems, preparation for tests or reviewing concepts covered in class.

HFA is currently recruiting teachers who will be responsible for direct, in-class teaching. The online learning program has a faculty of 32 teachers who provide online classroom teaching and monitoring. All of these teachers are highly qualified and many of them have Masters degrees and PhD’s.

The school run by HFA will have classes between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM Monday to Friday, August to May, excluding holidays.
