HFA Students Volunteer their Time in December
On December 3rd HFA students in 8th and 9th grade volunteered their time to assist in the set-up and organization of the 2019 TASH National Conference at the Wild Horse Pass Resort in Phoenix. TASH is an organization that is an international leader in disability advocacy. TASH advocates for the human rights and inclusion of people with severe disabilities. The HFA students enjoyed sharing their time and meeting people making a difference in the lives of those with disabilities. Thank you to HFA parent, Lisa Montez Stockstad, for organizing this event.
On December 19th, Mrs. Sabo took the students in 4th and 5th grade to the Child Crisis Center in Mesa. The HFA students delivered a basket full of athletic gear for the children at the center. They are also delivering diapers and socks to the center. The students did chores for their family and friends to raise money to purchase the items that they are donating to the Child Crisis Center. They also visited the Grand Court Senior Living Center in Mesa. The 4th and 5th-grade students delivered fuzzy socks, cards, cookies, and Christmas carols.
On December 14th, HFA students volunteered their time to help the Wreaths Across America national event. Students joined thousands of volunteers at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix to help lay wreaths at the graves of the fallen heroes buried there. The students were honored to be a part of such an important nation-wide event.
