On Thursday, August 4th, the first official gathering of the Holy Family Academy family took place with the annual ice cream social!
Each year, the new families to HFA are given a “mentor family” – a family that has been at Holy Family Academy for a year or more – to help the new families ease into the school year a little more easily. The mentor families will answer questions, provide some helpful advice, and often become extraordinary friends throughout the year.
While most of the families have already had a chance to meet one-on-one with their mentor families, the ice cream social is a great way for the all the kids and parents to get together in a low-key atmosphere before the school year starts.
The Juniors and Seniors served up the ice cream sundaes and made the new students – from Kindergarten to 10th grade – feel extraordinarily welcome! The parents were able to visit, meet other new and returning families, and take an early glance at the facilities before school begins.
Once it cooled down, the 50+ students took over the athletic field with some competitive four-square, volleyball, basketball, and football until about 9pm!
It was another beautiful event at HFA just before another school year begins…
