Hello, Dolly!

Audiences were treated to rousing renditions of Hello, Dolly! during performances on February 15 and 16 at the Kroc Performing Arts Center in Phoenix.

Hello, Dolly! is the story of the indomitable matchmaker, Dolly Gallagher Levi, who is on a mission to find love and happiness for herself and those around her.  She sets her sights on the grumpy but wealthy widower, Horace Vandergelder, and schemes and meddles her way to center stage.

Under the direction of Drama Club Moderator Monica Hable and Sebastian DeMark, Holy Family Academy cast and crew included nearly all the Upper and Middle Academy students.  Senior Rachel DeMark played the lead role as Dolly with Max Obernuefemann playing opposite her as Horace Vandergelder.  They were joined by Seniors Evan Latham, Maria DeMark, Augustine Beltran and Natalya Weber in their final performances as Padres.

The Holy Family Drama Clubs emphasizes four areas of education:  first and foremost, our traditional Catholic religious tenets which are interwoven into academics, arts and athletics.  The annual production or a drama or musical is a major part of the commitment to helping students explore their artistic creativity — whether as an actor, dancer, set designer or part of the costume and makeup team.  It is also another opportunity for the students to work as a team to foster their collaboration skills.

This year, many guests commented on how amazing it was to see a small school such as HFA successfully produce a musical as complex as Hello, Dolly!   The acting, dancing, costumes, make up, sound, lighting and overall production were outstanding.

Many thanks to the directors, cast, crew, Drama Club parents, alumni volunteers, Principal Laura Graves and Dominic DeMark for their support and encouragement of our student performers.
