Miss Gisla was born and raised in Sacramento, and she received a BA in Liberal Arts from Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, CA. After college, she worked as a 7th and 9th grade teacher at Regina Caeli Academy in Sacramento and founded and directed the Alza Youth Choir for 5th – 12th graders.
Miss Gisla moved to Phoenix in July of 2021, where she worked as a Youth Minister for St. Benedict Parish. She loved creating her own Faith Formation curriculum and mentoring the teens, but she realized her heart was in a classroom and found her way to Holy Family Academy in October, 2022. She is absolutely thrilled to be a part of the HFA team and would like to thank the good Lord for not calling her to work at a desk all day.
In her free time, Miss Gisla maintains her small businesses selling homemade sourdough, tutoring middle and high school students online, and teaching piano; and she greatly enjoys writing poetry, playing her guitar, listening to podcasts, cooking, reading, and campfiring.
“I believe that the classroom is a place where we should cultivate not only knowledge and understanding but also curiosity, confidence, discipline, and joy. Holy Family Academy is uniquely suited to this goal, with its foundational dedication to Catholic tradition and small class size, and I’m honored to be able to contribute to the realization of its mission.”
