The American Heritage Girls Troop AZ3125 held a Pajama Party Campout for Charity on October 17. The girls and their HFA mom chaperones stayed the night on the school campus. As admission to the event, each girl was asked to bring a pair of children’s pajamas to be donated to foster kids through the A Mighty Change of Heart organization. The goal was 40 pairs of pajamas, but the girls exceeded this with 60 sets! The teen scouts took the pajamas to the organization’s warehouse and hand packed them into duffle bags for the foster children.
After an evening of toasting marshmallows over a bonfire, movie watching and camping on the floor with sleeping bags, the sisters from Missionaries of Charity spoke to the girls during breakfast. Thanks to a popsicle fundraiser held after school the day before, the AHG troop was able to present the sisters with a check for $2,000 to use at the Gift of Mary Home in Phoenix. The Home is a shelter for homeless women and children which is run by the Missionaries of Charity.
Nice job, girls!
